Sculptural Glass Installation for Curved Staircase Environment

This installation was conceived as a suspended sculptural element that interacts directly with the movement of the staircase.

Rather than functioning as a traditional chandelier, the piece acts as a spatial narrative—unfolding organically from ceiling to lower level.

The flowing glass forms introduce a sense of motion, guiding the eye along the curvature of the architecture while softening the rigidity of structural lines.

Spatial Integration

Positioned within a circular stair hall, the installation responds to both vertical circulation and surrounding geometry.

The curved ceiling and radial layout provided a natural framework for a design that emphasizes continuity and flow.

As users ascend or descend the staircase, the perception of the piece shifts continuously—offering layered visual experiences from different viewpoints rather than a single fixed perspective.

Form & Material Language

The composition is built from a series of ribbon-like glass elements, each individually shaped to create a fluid, wave-like structure.

The variation in opacity—from translucent white to soft green tones—adds depth while subtly interacting with ambient light.

Suspended glass droplets and integrated light points introduce contrast in scale and rhythm, balancing the larger sweeping forms with finer visual details.

Engineering & Suspension Strategy

Given the complexity of the form, the installation relies on a concealed suspension system anchored at the ceiling’s central structural point.

Each glass element is independently supported, allowing for precise positioning and adjustment during installation.

The lightweight yet durable metal framework ensures stability without compromising the visual lightness of the overall composition.

Lighting Approach

Instead of relying on a single dominant light source, the design incorporates distributed lighting elements throughout the installation.

This approach enhances the transparency and color variation of the glass, allowing the material itself to become the primary visual focus.

At night, the piece transitions into a softly illuminated sculpture, casting subtle reflections across surrounding surfaces and reinforcing the atmosphere of the space.

Experience & Atmosphere

The installation transforms the staircase into more than a transitional zone—it becomes a focal experience within the residence.

The interplay of form, light, and movement creates a dynamic yet calming presence, aligning with the overall interior palette and architectural rhythm.

Custom Design Possibilities

Projects like this highlight the potential of bespoke lighting as both functional and artistic expression.

From material selection to structural integration, each element can be tailored to suit specific spatial conditions and design intent.

We work closely with designers and homeowners to develop installations that elevate everyday spaces into immersive visual experiences.
