A sculptural butterfly-inspired chandelier that elegantly flows through the atrium, visible from multiple floors.
Spatial Inspiration
This staircase atrium presented a unique opportunity to create a chandelier that flows organically through the vertical space. The design aimed to capture the elegance of movement, echoing the natural grace of butterflies in flight while enhancing the openness of the multi-level staircase.
The challenge was to create a fixture that feels light and sculptural despite the atrium’s height, offering visual interest from multiple vantage points—whether viewed from the foyer below or the upper landing.

Conceptual Flow
The chandelier is inspired by butterflies in flight. Individual crystal “butterfly” elements are suspended at varying heights, creating a sense of movement as they cascade through the atrium.
The design ensures a balanced composition from every angle—whether viewed from the foyer below or the upper floors. The metal framework features a brushed gold finish that complements the neutral interior palette while remaining visually subtle.
The modular design allows for a large-scale installation without appearing heavy or overwhelming the staircase space.
Craft & Detail
Each butterfly-shaped crystal was individually cut and polished to maximize natural light reflection. The supporting metal structure was custom-fabricated for precise alignment and stable weight distribution.
The chandelier was produced in multiple sections for safe transport and simplified on-site assembly. Spacing and angles were carefully measured to create a cascading effect that feels fluid and delicate.
Light & Presence
The butterfly crystal chandelier now serves as the centerpiece of the staircase atrium. During the day, natural light creates subtle reflections from the crystal elements. At night, the chandelier produces a soft, layered glow that emphasizes the vertical space and adds a sculptural dimension to the atrium.
The final installation demonstrates how a custom chandelier can enhance both the functional and visual experience of transitional spaces, combining elegance with a distinctive design element.
